What are the accommodations like?

Conference attendees will be spread across three dormitories. Each room has two sets of twin bunk beds, and you will be in a double or triple room, depending on your registration. There are shared bathrooms in each cabin but you will need to bring your own toiletries (body soap, shampoo, etc). Towel and bedding are provided. Note that the dorm rooms do not have locks.

What should I wear?

The conference is a casual-attire event. Please check the weather forecast before packing. Consider bringing hiking or walking shoes or attire. Consider bringing a swimsuit if you're interested in going into the lake (the water is very cold!). No outdoor shoes are allowed to be worn inside the dormitory, so bring indoor footwear (e.g., slippers) if you prefer to wear footwear indoors.

Is there wifi/cell service?

There is no cell service, but there are landlines on the campus. There is Wifi available.

Can I bring extra food or beverages?

We will be providing all meals, and you are welcome to bring your own food, snacks, and beverages. The conference venue does not provide alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own.  In particular, alcohol is ok after hours in the dormitory and lounge (which is considered a private space) and also during the campfire (as long as our use is discreet). Each dormitory has a refrigerator.

Where am I going? 

The event is held at North Cascades Environmental Learning Center located on Diablo Lake in Whatcom County, approximately 60 miles east of Burlington, WA: google map. For those traveling to the Environmental Learning Center for their first time, do not confuse it with the North Cascades Institute main office in Sedro Woolley.

Examples of unprofessional behavior include:

• Harassment in any form, including any verbal, physical, and visual conduct that creates an intimidating, offensive, or hostile environment
• Sexual language and imagery
• Demeaning comments about a person’s professional status or qualifications
• Conduct that has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with another person’s ability to benefit from, enjoy or participate in the event

FFPERPS has an Ombuds team who have volunteered to support the well-being of FFPERPS participants. FFPERPS participants violating these rules may be expelled from FFPERPS at the discretion of the FFPERPS organizing team. 

pants can go to the Ombuds team or leadership team to ask questions about the code of conduct, to report violations of the code of conduct, to get support in surfacing and resolving conflicts with other FFPERPS participants, and to talk through any other concerns about the FFPERPS. The Ombuds team members will be announced closer to the conference dates.
