Foundations and Frontiers of Physics Education Research: Puget Sound 2020

June 18, 2020 - June 21, 2020 in Diablo, Washington at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center

The fifth Foundations and Frontiers of Physics Education Research: Puget Sound  (FFPERPS) conference will be held June 18-21, 2020, at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center.

FFPERPS is a regional conference, open to physics educators – including physics education researchers and teachers of physics – in the Cascadia region and beyond. The conference is designed to increase communication and collaboration and to highlight work that is of high quality but not necessarily well known. The conference provides a forum for examining and articulating current themes, best practices, and research directions in physics education, as well as discussing promising new areas to explore in teaching and research. The structure of the conference includes plenary talks, targeted breakout sessions, contributed poster sessions, and substantial free time for informal interactions. Plenary speakers for the 2020 conference are:

Saalih Allie, Dept. of Physics, University of Cape Town
Suzanne Brahmia, Dept. of Physics, University of Washington-Seattle
Ben Geller, Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, Swarthmore College
Simone Hyater-Adams, Education and Diversity Programs Manager, American Physical Society National Mentoring Community
Thanh Le, Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, Western Washington University

In addition, the conference will offer contributed poster sessions, as well as a series of targeted sessions/workshops.

The registration deadline will be in May 2020.
