Abstract Title: | Developing High Quality Common Formative Assessments with Middle School Teachers |
---|---|
Abstract: | A year-long program was developed to train middle school teachers in a large Ohio district to create high quality common formative assessments (CFAs). An iterative process was established whereby teams of teachers drafted CFAs in various subjects, and then pre and post-tested their students. The teachers were trained to analyze the data collected to determine the quality of the test questions, resulting in improvements to the CFA. Here we present an overview of the program with evidence showing the improvements teachers made in test design and analysis. |
