Abstract Title: | Adapting AAPT Lab Recommendations to Meet Local Conditions: DATA Lab |
---|---|
Abstract: | The AAPT Recommendations for the Undergraduate Physics Laboratory Curriculum developed broad learning goals, in part to focus physics laboratory instruction on critical practices that are best engaged within a laboratory. However, adapting these goals to an institution's curriculum must involve molding these recommendations to local conditions. This poster will present the alignment of AAPT recommendations with locally-implemented learning goals set forth at Michigan State University as we developed Design, Analysis, Tools, and Apprenticeship (DATA) Lab, an algebra based lab for non-majors. Strategies and practices we employed, such as faculty interviews, in order to incorporate faculty input as well as develop buy-in will also be presented. This work is funded by a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Science Education Grant |
