Abstract Title: | National Assessment Impact of Learning Assistants on Physics Students’ Learning |
---|---|
Abstract: | This study investigates the effects of various uses of Learning Assistants (LAs) on student outcomes across 20 LA Alliance member institutions. Over 80 instructors and 9,000 physics students participated in the study using the LA Supported Student Outcomes (LASSO) online student evaluation system. Over 130 different classes across the U.S. used the Force and Motion Concept Evaluation (FMCE), Force Concept Inventory (FCI), Brief Electricity and Magnetism Assessment (BEMA), or Conceptual Survey of Electricity and Magnetism (CSEM). Our analyses evaluated students' learning as a function of course information (e.g. how LAs are utilized) and student information (e.g., average LA-student interaction time). |
