Abstract Title: | Student response to a grading approach based on gaming |

Abstract: | A grading approach is presented that is based on progress in a video game. In a sophomore level electronics course and a junior level electricity and magnetism course, students were invited to retake quizzes to improve their grade. Mastery was decided democratically at the start of the course and any quiz score above 85% was considered mastery. The results of a student survey focused on engagement together with the results of conceptual assessments will be presented. |
