Abstract Title: | Assessing students' experimental reasoning and proficiency in elementary laboratory |
---|---|
Abstract: | We present initial results from the ELSA (Elementary Laboratory Skills Assessment) for evaluating the rudimentary skills of students in lab courses. Still in development, the purpose of this assessment is to identify underlying issues for students that may hinder higher level experimental reasoning and proficiency. Targeted skills include quantitative reasoning, analysis of graphs, basic logic and synthesis of ideas. |
