| Abstract: | Actor level social network measures give information which is useful for analyzing the members of a network as well as attributes of their interactions. However, to understand the development of the network as a whole as well as the formation of group friendships, a different kind of measure is required. Ironically, to understand the macroscopic interactions of a network, one only needs to examine three people at a time. When a single person forms a strong bond with two people, it is likely that these two people will also become friends. This 'friend of my friend' concept is called transitivity, and it is intimately linked to group formation. |
