Abstract Title: | Critical Reflection and Physics Education Multimedia |
---|---|
Abstract: | Our research deals with how reflection manifests after watching "Q&A" style physics education videos. We presented 550 undergraduate students with two videos. Video one presents four questions, and video two explains the solutions. The students answered the questions, and reported their confidence in their answers. Then the students watched video two, where they were presented with the solutions, and were prompted to answer if they change their answer, and also provide a reason. The reasons for not changing their minds were coded into 7 distinct categories. The question, and the phrasing of the answer played a large role. The categories correspond with Jack Mezirow's taxonomies of Critical Reflection. |
