Abstract Title: | The PICUP Community and its Evolution Over Time |
---|---|
Abstract: | The mission of the Partnership for Integration of Computation into Undergraduate Physics (PICUP) is to expand the role of computation in the undergraduate physics curriculum. One of the primary goals of the PICUP Faculty Development Workshop (FDW) is to build a thriving community of faculty who are invested in integrating computation into the undergraduate physics curriculum. As described in a paper by Irving and Caballero (2017), a project was developed that applied the communities of practice framework to understand how the PICUP community developed over time. In that study, central members outlined various roles that community members could take up within the PICUP community. Presented in this paper are critiques to the central members' initial perceptions of the community's goals and ways to participate in the community, along with how those participations and roles have changed over time. |
