Abstract Title: Survey of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry Faculty
Abstract: We report initial findings from a survey of a representative sample of physics, mathematics and chemistry instructors in the United States. Faculty who recently taught an introductory course were asked about their instructional practices, knowledge of research based instructional strategies, local context, beliefs about teaching and learning, and personal background. The survey design allows us to document the extent to which faculty know about and use research-based pedagogies and to connect this use to correlating factors and to compare across disciplines.
