Abstract Title: | Predictive Modeling of Exam Performance from Mastery-Style Homework Behavior |
---|---|
Abstract: | We examined data from mastery-style homework from an introductory physics course for underprepared aspiring engineers. In mastery homework, students may attempt a problem set multiple times, receiving feedback and solution videos between each attempt on sets of similar problems. Student performance and behavior across multiple attempts to learn to solve physics problems can provide us with more insight into students' learning processes and facility with course material than single-attempt scores. We modeled the relationship between students' behavior on mastery homework and their exam performance in an effort to identify students who might benefit from additional support much earlier than the first exam. Results will be shared. |
