Abstract Title: | Determining a truly representative sample for Research-based Conceptual Learning Assessment Instruments (RBCLAIs) |
---|---|
Abstract: | Research-based Conceptual learning assessment instruments (RB-CLAIs) aka concept inventories are only valid, reliable, and fair for their field-test populations which they are established. It is necessary to obtain a truly-representative field-test population when developing such instruments for wide distribution at the national level. But how is this accomplished? What does a truly representative sample look like? In this poster, we present an example of how we determined a truly representative sample for the Introductory Physics for Life Science (IPLS), as well as how we recruited such a population for the development of the Fluid Dynamics Conceptual Evaluation. |
