Abstract Title: Queering qualitative STEM education research: One researcher’s experience
Abstract Type: Symposium Talk
Abstract: Queer theory is a critical theory that can be used in a multitude of ways in research, and as the call for usage of queer theory in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education research increases, it can be tricky to navigate how to integrate it into a study. In this poster, the presenter will provide some introductory information about queer theory and queer research methods as well as explore how they have utilized it in two separate qualitative studies as both a theoretical framework and a lens for data analysis. This poster will also include some thoughts for consideration about using queer theory in STEM education research for readers.
