| Abstract Title: | Initiating PER Collaborations with Two-Year Colleges |
|---|---|
| Abstract Type: | Community Connection |
| Abstract: | Within the physics education research (PER) community, interest in physics students at two-year colleges has increased dramatically in 2020. Kanim & Cid (2020) revealed that less than 2% of PER takes place in these settings, despite half of students taking introductory physics at 2-year institutions. In this session, join us to strategize ways to establish successful and equitable collaborations between 2- and 4-year partners. Learn about some common misconceptions, share your methods & successes, and ask your questions. |

Parallel Session Information | |
| Format Description: | This session is a follow-up to the planned plenary panel discussion about two-year colleges (TYCs) and PER. We will present some findings on creating thriving partnerships, building on discussions from a Critical Conversation session at PERC23. We invite participants to share their experiences, ask questions, and brainstorm solutions collectively. We hope to foster conversations that may result in productive partnerships. |
| Anticipated Participants: | This session invites anyone interested in doing PER with two-year colleges, whether they are researchers or teachers, are at four-year or two-year institutions, and regardless of prior experience. |
