| Abstract Title: | Exploring the Application of the Rasch Model in Teaching Fermi-Dirac Distribution |

| Abstract Type: | Contributed Poster Presentation |
| Abstract: | Here we propose a novel enhancement for physics instruction by combining the Rasch model with the teaching of the Fermi-Dirac distribution. Both models are grounded in the logistic function. The Fermi-Dirac distribution focuses on the occupancy of fermions in quantum states across energy levels, whereas the Rasch model assesses the likelihood of a student correctly answering a question based on their ability and the difficulty of the question. Introducing this integrated approach allows students to connect physical science concepts with educational measurement techniques, promoting an interdisciplinary approach to learning. By examining the similarities between these models, students can better understand the Rasch model and gain a deeper insight into the Fermi-Dirac distribution. This teaching strategy is particularly suited for students majoring in physics, engineering, or science education, especially those with an interest in educational research or seeking to understand more about the Rasch model. |
