| Abstract: | Physics education researchers have spent considerable work to understand learning impacts of online homework systems, though there has been less attention to the way that students feel about and interact with these systems. At San José State University, we surveyed engineering students in our calculus based physics introductory courses to better understand students' experiences, preferences, and modes of engagement with online and "traditional" homework. From our first pass of the data (N=95), we discovered that our students did not have a strong preference between homework modes, nor did they report different types of collaboration. At this poster, we will share more details and further analyses, as well as features of each type of homework that students cited as helpful and/or frustrating. |
