Abstract Title: Can introductory physics be a pump and not a filter for the IPLS student?

Abstract: Mercy University's mission is to serve those who have been underserved.   Our introductory physics classes are populated with students who aspire to go to graduate health programs (medical,  veterinary, dental school, physical therapy), but who are often underprepared to do so.   We are incorporating inclusive excellence strategies, metacognition, and a growth mindset into the introductory physics curriculum.   Early results are promising, showing improvement in the course learning outcomes.
