| Abstract: | Performance in introductory courses, particularly physics, are often crucial for student success in STEM majors and can impact an individual's tendency to persist in their chosen field. To provide students with quality resources and enhance their individual learning experiences, faculty at many universities across the country have worked to develop open-access materials to help students build conceptual understandings and problem-solving skills. This work seeks to explore and measure the potential impact that these resources have on student success in an introductory, calculus-based electromagnetism course. Data were collected from two fall semesters, 2021-2022, including classroom performance, a conceptual assessment, and relevant university level data to contextualize student background and pre-class abilities. We will present results from regression analysis and discuss how the use of supplemental materials appears to impact students' performance and improvement in the course. |
