Abstract Title: Initiating PER Collaborations with Two-Year Colleges
Abstract Type: Plenary
Abstract: About half of introductory physics students take their classes at two-year colleges. Within the physics education research (PER) community, interest in physics students at two-year colleges has increased dramatically after Kanim & Cid (2020) revealed that less than 2% of PER takes place in these settings. In this panel, we will share data showing the unique populations at two-year colleges and discuss productive collaborations between 4-year and 2-year institutions. Finally, we will highlight a few examples of PER about 2-year college students and faculty that can improve communication and support for physics learners across multiple contexts.
