| Abstract Title: | Gender Bias in the FCI - Comparison Across Studies |

| Abstract Type: | Contributed Poster Presentation |
| Abstract: | This paper uses item response theory to examine how males and females answer questions differently on the FCI and compares those results to previous studies. Several items show remarkable similarities across the different datasets in how students answer the questions. However, those differences are not sufficient to explain the gap in performance between the two groups, suggesting that the difference in scores is due to more than question bias. |
