Unique to the PERC Proceedings
- The reviewer pool is made up almost entirely of submitting authors.
- Novice and experienced reviewers both participate in the peer review process.
- Reviewing serves as an educational experience for undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral individuals learning how to write and professionally review papers for various publications.
- The peer review process does not allow for resubmission of papers for re-review.
- The Proceedings allows submission of preliminary and work-in-progress results.
- Reviewer feedback can be on three levels: information for the editor (required), information for the author in improving the paper for current publication in the PERC Proceedings (required) and information for the author in improving the research/paper for future journal publication (optional).
- The short turnaround time between submission and publication is designed to provide the community with a snapshot of the range of current research that is going on in the field and a short synopsis of the latest findings.
- The Proceedings provides authors a source of publications for tenure and employment considerations.
- The focus of the Proceedings is on physics education research -- results, methods, assessment, curriculum, teaching, learning, professional development, techniques, theoretical frameworks, contexts, content, understanding, beliefs, skills, and reasoning at all academic levels -- for the target audience of physics education researchers.
