The Physics Astronomy Education Research at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is a theory-driven, application-centered program. We explore many aspects of cognitive theory as applied to teaching physics and astronomy. For example, examining the role that working memory plays in student learning. We also are assessment-driven. We develop assessment to test our curriculum development and we help other researchers beta-test their assessments. Finally, we offer independent study class for those individuals who would like a PAER Primer.
SIUE currently does not offer advanced degrees from the physics department, but there are cooperative MS programs available from SIUE's School of Education and PhD Programs from SIUC School of Education.
